About the IIS&R (COLIS Phase 2) Project
Project Achievements 2003
Educational research
The research of the six education partners achieved the following:
-
The development of metadata standards and vocabularies;
-
Data regarding the barriers and motivators to the use of learning objects;
-
Management and workflow models regarding the integration of learning objects into lesson plans and learning management systems (LMS);
-
Reports on the usability and functionality of the COLIS model for learning object cataloguers, teachers and administrators.
Systems
The industry support for the COLIS demonstrator environment progressed to the proving stage. This was accomplished by substituting the existing functional components of COLIS with other vendors products. During the second half of 2003, twelve vendors contributed their products and time to the project. In general, the support for the IMS/COLIS model for a collaborative learning infrastructure is evident and the key standards are receiving considerable support from the industry, including IMS Content Package 1.1.3, IMS Learning Resource Metadata 1.2, SRU/SRW, Z39.50, Xquery, IMS DRI 1.0 and ODRL 1.0.
